India Joins Premier League Countries Having Own GPS System For Military and Civilian Use

During Kargil War, USA refused to give important GPS Data to India.

This humiliation led to the vision of own GPS System !!

ISRO launched 7th final navigation satellite IRNSS-1G on board PSLV-C33 from Sriharikota.

IRNSS is designed to be system of seven satellites with four being  in geosynchronous orbit and rest three in geostationary orbit.This will provide two types of signals :

  1. Standard Positioning Service (SPS) which is provided to all the users
  2. Restricted Service (RS), which is an encrypted service provided only to the authorised users like armed forces

Coverage will be around 5000 km circle covering most of China, entire Pakistan, Afghanistan and most of Middle East along with Indian Ocean.

This signal will be far better than the available GPS signals.Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System is another achievement by ISRO which has made us proud and will be blessing to common Indian by more accurate navigation.Now India enters 5 countries that operate their own satellite navigation system.
